To the Moon she went (A Ride Part 2)

She searched every high and low for Sera. She was nowhere to be found. Loneliness: only thing that stands beside her now. She sits on her bed, with her knees held close to her chest. Blowing away a few speckles of dust on her knees by her breath, she gazes at the moon through her bedroom window. This has now become a routine. She utters Sera’s words, “To the moon” again and again, in various tones, in a hope that she could break the code and find her again.

Time and again, Resa searches for her friend up on the terrace, recreating the situations of the memory of the day they met. No one to be found there. Nothing but bad cough in the shivering cold of the night. She would try it every once in a while, but all her efforts were in vain.

Now everything is normal. If you consider her life before Sera to be normal, then it was pretty normal. So normal that she is now living like a ghost. Once again she’s friends with her dear hoodie, her invisibility cloak. She’s invisible, once again. Lost in her thoughts, she drags her feet towards her classes. She has to make emergency exits out of her thoughts as people crash against her in the hallway.

To the moon she said. Maybe she meant to tell her that they don’t belong together, she thought. Sera must be somewhere she can’t reach. Maybe she’s gone to chase her dreams. Resa sighs, thinking about their last moment shared together. A sad farewell hug escalated into a beautiful collision of lips. Then it was sadness all over again; without a word, Sera had vanished. It was difficult for her to wrap her mind around it.

Months passed. Then it turned into a year. Not a single word from her. Resa finally started to be able to make sense of it. Sera was a fragment of herself. She was hallucinating the whole time. That must have been it, she thought. That would explain a lot. Their identical faces, the way Sera knew her so well. It was sad to let go of her precious memory as a mere imagination. She locked away everything that reminded her of Sera in a Chest. The matter got settled. It was pretty stupid of her, to think of it to be real.

She stands by her window bathed by moonlight with the key in her palm. This is the real goodbye. She hesitates for a few minutes, then kisses it and throws it out of the window.

It’s all over she thinks and lets out a quick sigh. She thinks she’ll be fine. She is stronger. She checks her phone; hours past midnight. Thinking she shouldn't be awake at the crack of dawn, goodnight she tells herself. As she rushes towards her bed, she crashes against Sera..
